Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a diverse cast of characters, and a thrilling plot showcasing celestial beings, fiends, and sinister influences expanding in influence within the urban setting.
Note: Revealing details for the third episode of the new season are included.
The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced
The third episode ended with a major cliffhanger and presented the first table of adventurers who will branch out from the primary party to begin their independent quest, separate from the other two tables.
The combat-focused team includes the determined fighter (brought to life by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (Laura), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), the cleric (the player), and Kattigan (the actor).
Why Split the Party?
With an extensive roster, it was clear from the start that having everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.
This explains, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, weaving together the personal journeys before branching into three distinct groups: Fighters, Schemers, and Seekers.
The Nature of the Soldiers Table
Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for players who prefer a typically action-packed fight-heavy story mode where peaceful solutions are scarce.
At first glance, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander might seem mismatched, but the developments of the third episode show why these specific adventurers are best suited for the Soldiers table.
Motivations for Departure
To begin with, the group understands precisely where to go next after a violent initial meeting with the antagonists.
An old friend of Thjazi—whose death kicked off the campaign’s events—used the enemy for his own means, invading Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting the character, and swiping all the powerful objects to sell off.
The antagonist then cleared his debts and ran away to a fortified location in the remote area, north of the city, with Cyd close behind.
Individual Reasons
Secondly, each member has a personal reason to exit Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, desires retribution.
- Kattigan is familiar with the northern area and warns that it is a dangerous environment.
- The warrior and The cleric, having defied his house’s orders to kill the target and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
- However, their reputation as key figures in the powerful family could help the party enter areas they usually can’t.
- Additionally, Teor pledged a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his rescue and will now go with him wherever.
Pursued by Authorities
Lastly, all of them are wanted by the rulers that govern Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind too risky:
- Thimble and The hero are notorious outlaws.
- Tyranny and The healer turned against House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
- The target is targeted for elimination by the clan.
This results in them little choice but to travel to the northern region in quest for Casimir.
Upcoming Developments
Based on the latest episode’s post-show segment, we learn that the combat party will be absent next week, leaving the other eight participants to form the Explorers and Planners parties.
Viewers can look forward to discovering which players will be assigned to which table in the season’s concluding setup installment, released on October 24.
